Visa application checklists

One checklist per visa, built from the dated record behind its page. It holds only what the record states and tells you where to re-read the source. It is general information, not legal or immigration advice, and your embassy’s own checklist always counts first.

Thailand

Thailand DTV

Unverified draft, 3 October 2026.

Eligibility and money

  • ☐ Savings: ฿500,000 — the form of proof and the statement period are post-specific. Ho Chi Minh City accepts bank statements or a sponsorship letter; Oslo asks for statements showing an ending balance of at least 500,000 THB over the past three months. Check the embassy handling the application.
  • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: You are applying from inside Thailand — the e-Visa system flags IP and GPS location to block this.
  • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: You cannot document the workcation or qualifying-activity evidence required by the handling post.
  • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: You cannot provide the criminal-record certificate required by the handling post, where one is required.

Insurance

  • ☐ No insurance rule is on record. Arrange cover yourself if you want it.

Where, how much, how long

  • ☐ Where to apply: Outside Thailand, at the Thai embassy or consulate covering your place of residence.
  • ☐ Government fee on record: $340 — Ho Chi Minh City post fee. Posts publish the fee in local currency, so it differs by embassy (Kuala Lumpur lists MYR 1,600). A flat baht fee quoted by secondary sites is not stated on the embassy pages checked..
  • ☐ Processing time on record: Set by each post. Ho Chi Minh City quotes 5 working days; Kuala Lumpur quotes about one month or more.

Per-post requirements we read

  • ☐ Royal Thai Embassy London: Announcement dated 8 September 2026, in force from 31 August 2026. Check your own post as well.
  • ☐ Royal Thai Embassy Oslo: Page updated 15 September 2026. Check your own post as well.
  • ☐ Royal Thai Consulate-General Ho Chi Minh City: Announcement of 28 August 2026, in force from 31 August 2026. Earlier applications follow the old rules.. Check your own post as well.
  • ☐ Royal Thai Consulate-General Osaka: Announcement in force from 31 August 2026. Check your own post as well.
  • ☐ Royal Thai Embassy Kuala Lumpur: Fee table read. The checklist is published as images and could not be read.. Check your own post as well.

If you will extend in country

  • ☐ Application form TM.7
  • ☐ Copy of the passport — data page, visa page and arrival stamp
  • ☐ One photograph, 4x6 cm or 2-inch size
  • ☐ Proof of finances totalling at least 500,000 baht: either (a) financial evidence from a Thai bank account and/or a verifiable foreign bank account, combined, covering not less than 30 days prior to the application date, or (b) proof of financial support for travel — a certificate from the company or employer, or a guarantee letter for at least 500,000 baht valid on the application date, with documents showing the relationship between guarantor and applicant
  • ☐ Telework route: employment verification — a contract for work abroad still in effect on the application date, or employment history or previous work
  • ☐ Activities route: certificate of activity — for soft power, certificates and requests for extension of stay from the relevant government authorities; for medical care, a medical certificate from a hospital or government medical institute; for government-supported training and seminars, a government invitation letter and acceptance letter; for government-supported art and music exhibitions, a certificate from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) plus activity participation photographs
  • ☐ Dependants (spouse and legitimate children under 20): relationship documents such as birth, marriage and adoption certificates
  • ☐ Evidence of residence in the Kingdom — rent and payment evidence for a hotel, condominium or house, or an owner-certified copy of the title deed
  • ☐ Copy of previous notification of staying over 90 days (TM.47) and Notification of residence of foreigner (TM.30)

Thai retirement visa

Unverified draft, 3 October 2026.

Eligibility and money

  • ☐ Minimum age on record: 50.
  • ☐ Savings: ฿800,000 — or an income certificate showing a monthly pension of not less than 65,000 THB, or a deposit plus monthly pension totalling not less than 80,000 THB. A bank letter of guarantee is required with a bank statement.
  • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: You are under 50 on the date of application.
  • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: You intend to work in Thailand — the O-A prohibits employment.
  • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Your insurer will not issue the Thai Foreign Insurance Certificate.

Insurance

  • ☐ Health insurance is required, minimum ฿3,000,000.
  • ☐ It must come from a Thai insurer on the official TGIA long-stay list, or from a foreign insurer able to issue the Foreign Insurance Certificate in the format Thai Immigration accepts.
  • ☐ The consulate's document list includes the Foreign Insurance Certificate form, signed and stamped by the insurer, so a policy with a high limit but no certificate is incomplete.

Where, how much, how long

  • ☐ Where to apply: Outside Thailand, at the Thai embassy or consulate for your country of residence.
  • ☐ Processing time on record: 3–6 weeks.

If you will extend in country

  • ☐ TM.7 application form
  • ☐ Copy of the passport: photo page, current visa, latest entry stamp, departure card
  • ☐ Evidence of income such as a retirement pension, interest or dividend
  • ☐ Fund deposit certificate from a commercial bank located in Thailand or a specialized financial institution established under specific law, plus a copy of the bank passbook
  • ☐ O-A holders only: insurance evidence on the form approved by the Office of Insurance Commission where the policy is Thai (check the insurer at longstay.tgia.org)
  • ☐ O-A holders only, foreign insurer or non-Thai social welfare: a certification letter from that country's embassy in Thailand, or a notarised signature certification legalised by the applicant's own Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the form prescribed by the Thai Ministry of Public Health
  • ☐ O-A holders only, where an insurer refused cover: the insurer's denial letter (Thai insurer) or an MFA-certified notarised equivalent (foreign insurer), plus evidence of the criterion 6.3 fallback — a Thai bank deposit of 3,000,000 THB seasoned two months, or a smaller Thai bank deposit combined with other health insurance totalling 3,000,000 THB
  • ☐ Documents or other evidence as specified by the Committee for Monitoring the Performance of Immigration Officials
  • ☐ In practice at most offices: TM.30 residence notification receipt, a map or photos of the residence, and copies signed on every page
  • ☐ The Immigration Division 1 download index also carries 2025-dated acknowledgement forms STM.2 (criteria and conditions), STM.9 (overstay penalties) and STM.11 (consent to fact-checking), which several other extension categories list explicitly. The retirement document list does not mention them; ask your office whether it wants them.

    Thailand LTR

    Unverified draft, 10 September 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Deposit: $100,000 — optional — substitutes for the insurance requirement.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: You do not fall into one of the LTR categories (wealthy global citizen, wealthy pensioner, work-from-Thailand professional, or highly-skilled professional).

    Insurance

    • ☐ Health insurance is required, minimum $50,000.
    • ☐ Health insurance of at least USD 50,000 in coverage.
    • ☐ A deposit of USD 100,000 may be used in place of insurance.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: Inside or outside Thailand, via the Board of Investment LTR portal.
    • ☐ Government fee on record: ฿50,000 — Per person, as stated by the BOI LTR portal for collection in Thailand; the portal says the fee may be higher at Royal Thai Embassies/Consulates abroad or via e-visa. Checked 2026-10-02..
    • ☐ Processing time on record: Around 20 working days after qualification endorsement.

If you will extend in country

    • ☐ No dedicated extension checklist has been published, so this list is reconstructed from the first-application requirements and from Por. 4/2568. Treat every item below as inferred rather than published, and plan on re-proving the whole original file.
    • ☐ Current passport (6+ months validity, 2+ blank pages), full scan of the biodata page and every page carrying Thai immigration stamps, in chronological double-page spreads.
    • ☐ Health insurance covering Thailand for at least USD 50,000 with at least 10 months of coverage remaining, measured as of the date the endorsement letter is issued rather than the date of filing. Alternatives: Thai Social Security evidence (latest month's payment receipt, the company's submitted employee name list, and the valid SSO card), or a deposit of at least USD 100,000 held and maintained for at least 12 months (USD 25,000 for a dependent).
    • ☐ Category-specific proof again: filed personal income tax returns for the relevant period; for Wealthy Pensioners, passive-income evidence only; for Work-from-Thailand, a current employment letter plus remote-work permission letter, each issued within 3 months, and fresh evidence the employer still meets the corporate test; for Wealthy Global Citizens, current evidence of the USD 500,000 Thai investment and USD 1 million in global assets; for Highly-Skilled, a current employment letter, Thai company profile and audited financial statement, plus WP.46 if a work permit is involved.
    • ☐ Dependents: proof of relationship again, and for a child, proof they are still under 20.
    • ☐ Police clearance may be requested case by case; if requested, it must be under 3 months old.

    Thai language school visa

    Unverified draft, 11 September 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Savings: €500 — Bankbook minimum balance listed on the Royal Thai Embassy Vienna ED checklist, printed there with the qualifier "[may be required]". Other missions state no fixed figure and instead ask for a certified three-month bank statement, so this is not a national threshold..
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Enrolling at a school not registered with the Ministry of Education or lacking the service area office approval letter, which the mission checklist asks for directly.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Applying in order to work remotely or simply to live in Thailand without attending classes; ghost enrolment is the specific target of current enforcement.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Trying to cover Thai language study under the DTV soft-power category, which the MFA checklist limits to activities such as Muaythai, Thai culinary training and medical treatment.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Failing to produce a certified criminal record where the mission requires one, as Kuala Lumpur does.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Repeatedly seeking extensions for the same language course at the same level past roughly a year.

    Insurance

    • ☐ No insurance rule is on record. Arrange cover yourself if you want it.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: Abroad, at a Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate-General (online through the Thai e-Visa system at missions that have moved to it). The school's enrolment letter and the Ministry of Education approval paperwork must be in hand before you apply..
    • ☐ Government fee on record: €70 — Single-entry visa fee at the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna, non-refundable; fees are set per mission, so your embassy's figure will differ. Extension-of-stay and re-entry permit charges are separate and additional.
    • ☐ Processing time on record: Usually 3-10 working days at the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna, depending on document completeness and nationality..

If you will extend in country

    • ☐ TM.7 application form with photo
    • ☐ Copy of passport (photo page, visa page, entry stamp) plus the original
    • ☐ Copy of the school's licence to operate, issued by the relevant government agency
    • ☐ Letter from the school certifying enrolment and requesting the extension, stating the number of academic years and the course level
    • ☐ Endorsement letter from a government body at department level or equivalent, or from the provincial governor responsible for that school — waived for international schools and for higher education
    • ☐ From the second extension onward: your past study results
    • ☐ Non-formal schools only: a copy of the curriculum, the class timetable, and the number of hours you have actually attended so far
    • ☐ Re-entry permit application (TM.8) if you intend to leave Thailand before the new permission expires — not needed by Non-ED PLUS holders, who may depart and re-enter without one
    • ☐ Any further document the Immigration Bureau's oversight committee specifies — this open-ended clause is in the official list and is how offices add local requirements

    Full requirements, evidence and gotchas

    Thai marriage visa

    Unverified draft, 11 September 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Income: ฿40,000 — average monthly income, as an alternative to the bank deposit, under clause 2.18(6) of Order 327/2557.
    • ☐ Deposit: ฿400,000 — held in a bank account in Thailand for the two months before the extension application; embassies issuing the initial Non-O ask instead for a balance held for the last 3 months, which may be held abroad.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: A marriage that is not genuine both in law and in fact — clause 2.18(3) requires the relationship to be "de jure and de facto", and a paper marriage with separate addresses is the most common reason for refusal
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Not holding a Non-Immigrant (NON-IM) visa or status before applying for the extension — you cannot extend straight from a visa exemption stamp
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Money in a joint account or in the Thai spouse's name rather than your own
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Funds that arrived in the Thai account less than two months before the application date
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Overstay or a prior immigration blacklist entry

    Insurance

    • ☐ No insurance rule is on record. Arrange cover yourself if you want it.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate abroad for the initial Non-O (e-Visa), then the Immigration office covering your registered address in Thailand for the annual extension. Holders already in Thailand on some other status can in many cases change status to Non-O in-country instead..
    • ☐ Government fee on record: ฿1,900 — per one-year extension of stay application (form TM.7), paid at the Immigration office; the embassy visa fee is charged separately in local currency (e.g. SGD 100 in Singapore, ZAR 1,250 in Pretoria).
    • ☐ Processing time on record: Embassies want the e-Visa filed well ahead — Singapore asks for submission at least 21 working days before travel. The in-country extension is usually not stamped on the day you apply: offices commonly issue an "under consideration" period of about 30 days while they verify the marriage..

    Full requirements, evidence and gotchas

    Thailand Non-B visa

    Unverified draft, 11 September 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Income: ฿50,000 — minimum gross monthly salary for nationals of countries in Europe (except Russia) plus Australia, Canada, Japan and the USA, applied at the one-year extension of stay, not at the embassy. Lower bands apply to other nationalities; we have not yet sourced those figures.
    • ☐ Savings: ฿20,000 — evidence of adequate finance shown at visa application: 20,000 Baht per person, 40,000 Baht per family.
    • ☐ Deposit: ฿2,000,000 — paid-up registered capital the employing company must hold — a requirement on the employer, not on you, tested when Immigration considers your one-year extension of stay. Representative offices, regional offices and overseas branch offices are exempted from this test..
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Employment in one of the occupations reserved for Thai nationals under the Foreign Working Management Emergency Decree — no work permit can be issued, so the Non-B is pointless
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: No employer. The Non-B requires a letter of approval from the Ministry of Labour obtained by a prospective employer filing Form WP3; there is no self-sponsored route
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: An employer whose company cannot show 2 million Baht paid-up registered capital or four permanent Thai employees per foreigner — the visa may still be issued abroad but the one-year extension will fail
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: An employer that has not filed audited financial statements for the past two accounting years showing actual and continuous operation
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: A salary below the Annex A threshold for your nationality
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: A virtual office address — Immigration and Labour officers inspect the workplace

    Insurance

    • ☐ No insurance rule is on record. Arrange cover yourself if you want it.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: see the visa page.
    • ☐ Government fee on record: ฿2,000 — single-entry Non-B with three-month validity; 5,000 Baht for one-year multiple entry; 10,000 Baht for the three-year Non-B. Work permit fees, extension-of-stay and re-entry permits are all separate and additional..

    Malaysia

    Malaysia digital nomad visa

    Verified, 10 September 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Income: $24,000 — per year for tech and digital professionals; USD 60,000 for other remote professions.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Your income comes from Malaysian clients or a Malaysian employer.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: You have under 3 years of professional experience and no equivalent portfolio evidence.

    Insurance

    • ☐ Health insurance is required.
    • ☐ The policy must explicitly cover Malaysia by name — wording such as 'worldwide' or 'Asia' is not accepted on its own.
    • ☐ Cover can be arranged after approval but must be in place before the pass is issued.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: Online, via the MDEC DE Rantau portal, from inside or outside Malaysia.
    • ☐ Processing time on record: 4–8 weeks.

If you will extend in country

    • ☐ Current passport with sufficient remaining validity (the programme's published bar at submission is more than fourteen months)

    Malaysia MM2H

    Verified, 3 October 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Minimum age on record: 25.
    • ☐ Deposit: $150,000 — Silver tier fixed deposit held in a Malaysian bank licensed under the Financial Services Act 2013 or Islamic Financial Services Act 2013. Gold is USD 500,000, Platinum USD 1,000,000, and the Forest City SEZ/SFZ tier USD 65,000 (ages 21-49) or USD 32,000 (ages 50+). MOTAC encourages the deposit to be placed in MYR at the equivalent of the USD figure, so the ringgit sum you must fund moves with the exchange rate. Up to 50% of the principal may later be withdrawn for a residence, education, medical or tourism spending in Malaysia..
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Nationals of countries that do not have diplomatic relations with Malaysia.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Anyone under 25 for Silver, Gold or Platinum (under 21 for SEZ/SFZ).
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Applying directly to the government rather than through a licensed MM2H tour operating business.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Buying an SEZ/SFZ property from a third party rather than from a Forest City property developer, or buying it after rather than before pass endorsement.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Selling the qualifying residence within 10 years other than to upgrade to a higher-value one.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Skipping the compulsory post-approval medical check-up at a MOTAC-panel clinic.

    Insurance

    • ☐ Health insurance is required.
    • ☐ Health insurance is listed among the documents required to renew the MM2H pass; MOTAC publishes a List of Insurance Company on the official references page.
    • ☐ No minimum coverage amount is published on the official MOTAC guidelines or category pages.
    • ☐ A medical check-up at a clinic or hospital on MOTAC's appointed panel is compulsory for the principal and every dependant after approval.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: Through an MM2H tour operating business licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture under the Tourism Industry Act 1992. Since 1 October 2025 operators must lodge MM2H business through the online appointment system at mm2h.gov.my/portal. Applications are processed by the One Stop Centre MM2H in Putrajaya, with final immigration approval resting with the Ministry of Home Affairs..
    • ☐ Government fee on record: RM1,000 — One-off participating fee per principal application on the Silver tier (no participating fee for dependants). Higher tiers carry different participating fees, not all of which we have sourced. Separately there is a processing fee of RM5,000 for the principal and RM2,500 for each dependant. Renewal of the Silver pass costs RM1,500 for principal and dependants; within the programme term the sticker renewal carries a visa fee of RM0-RM50 depending on nationality plus a fixed pass fee of RM500 per year. Agent fees are extra and are not government charges..

If you will extend in country

    • ☐ Valid passport (copy; and the physical passport for the new security sticker)
    • ☐ Latest medical report
    • ☐ Health insurance (Malaysian or foreign insurer with worldwide coverage)
    • ☐ Fixed deposit certificate showing the category FD still in place (practitioner-reported as the item actually checked; the Guide PDF's renewal checklist itself lists only passport copy, latest medical report and health insurance)
    • ☐ Visit Pass Application Form IMM.12 and, where a new bond is taken, the Personal Bond Form stamped by LHDN — both downloadable from the MM2H References page

    Sarawak MM2H

    Unverified draft, 11 September 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Minimum age on record: 30.
    • ☐ Income: RM10,000 — Per month. RM10,000 for a single applicant, RM15,000 for an applicant with a dependent. Accepted as either a government-approved pension (pension letter plus three months of payments) or offshore employment income (employment confirmation plus three months of payslips and bank statements). This is required in addition to the RM500,000 fixed deposit, not as an alternative to it..
    • ☐ Savings: RM100,000 — Closing balance over the latest three months: RM100,000 for a single applicant, RM200,000 with a dependent. Open only to applicants who have no offshore income or pension, and explicitly 'Subject on Panel Approval' — a discretionary fallback rather than a guaranteed route. Held separately from and in addition to the RM500,000 fixed deposit..
    • ☐ Deposit: RM500,000 — RM500,000 fixed deposit in the main applicant's name at an S-MM2H panel bank in Sarawak (Affin, Maybank, Alliance, Hong Leong, UOB, HSBC). One deposit covers the family — it is not doubled for a spouse. After one year you may withdraw up to 50%, and only for a house, a car, medical expenses or children's education in Sarawak; RM250,000 must stay in the account for the life of the pass..
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Under 30 years old at the time of application
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Citizens of Israel and North Korea, and of any country without diplomatic relations with Malaysia
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Passport with less than 24 months validity at submission
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Letter of Good Conduct older than 12 months at submission
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: No Sarawak-resident personal sponsor and no licensed S-MM2H agent willing to bond the application
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: A personal sponsor who has already sponsored someone else — a personal sponsor is allowed one applicant in a lifetime
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Since 16 May 2025, a personal sponsor who is not a spouse, parent/step-parent, child or sibling

    Insurance

    • ☐ Health insurance is required.
    • ☐ Medical insurance must be a Malaysian-valid policy — the checklist asks for a 'Certified copy of Local Medical Insurance Purchase'
    • ☐ The main-applicant checklist qualifies the insurance requirement as applying to applicants below 60 years old
    • ☐ Dependants' checklists (spouse, parents, children) list the insurance document with no age qualifier
    • ☐ MTCP publishes no minimum coverage amount, so any figure quoted by an agent is that agent's own standard
    • ☐ Separate from insurance: the RB II medical report must be done at a registered Sarawak facility and endorsed by a Sarawak government doctor; an overseas medical must be redone in Sarawak before the pass is issued

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: Inside Sarawak, through the S-MM2H Management and Online Application System (MOAS) at service.sarawak.gov.my, submitted by a Sarawak-based personal sponsor or an S-MM2H licensed agent. The medical report must be done at a Sarawak facility and endorsed by a Sarawak government doctor, so an in-person trip is unavoidable..
    • ☐ Government fee on record: RM5,000 — One-time, non-refundable processing fee paid to MTCP Sarawak, introduced 1 January 2025. Charged on acknowledgement of the application, before any decision. Excludes the personal/security bond (RM200–RM2,000 depending on nationality, RM2,000 for US and Canadian citizens), agent fees, and the Sarawak medical examination..
    • ☐ Processing time on record: Around three months from submission to approval when the file is complete, per licensed agents. MTCP publishes no service standard, and the clock only starts once the RM5,000 processing fee is paid and every document is in..

    Vietnam TRC

    Unverified draft, 11 September 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Deposit: ₫100,000,000,000 — Not a refundable deposit — this is the capital contribution that buys the longest card. VND 100 billion or more (or investment in an incentivised business line or locality) gets you an ĐT1 visa and so the 10-year ĐT1 TRC. VND 50bn–under 100bn is ĐT2 (5-year card), VND 3bn–under 50bn is ĐT3 (3-year card), and under VND 3bn is ĐT4, which gets no TRC at all..
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Holding a DN1 or DN2 business visa — business visa holders are simply not on the Article 36 list of TRC-eligible categories
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Being in Vietnam on a tourist (DL) visa or e-visa, including the 90-day multiple-entry e-visa
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Working remotely for a foreign employer with no Vietnamese sponsoring entity — there is no remote-work or digital-nomad TRC symbol
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Investing under VND 3 billion, which yields an ĐT4 visa and no TRC entitlement
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Having no work permit or work permit exemption confirmation when applying under LĐ2 or LĐ1
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: A passport with under about 13 months remaining, since the card must end at least 30 days before the passport does

    Insurance

    • ☐ No insurance rule is on record. Arrange cover yourself if you want it.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: see the visa page.
    • ☐ Government fee on record: $145 — Per card, for a TRC valid no more than 2 years — the tier that covers the LĐ1/LĐ2 employment cards most foreign workers get. USD 155 for over 2 to 5 years, USD 165 for over 5 to 10 years. Set by Circular 28/2026/TT-BTC, in force 1 April 2026. Excludes the work permit, the sponsor's paperwork and any agent fee..
    • ☐ Processing time on record: 5 working days from receipt of a complete dossier, by statute. In practice provincial immigration offices commonly take 5 to 10 working days, and the clock only starts once the file is accepted as complete — an incomplete dossier is handed back rather than queued..

    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: You are under 40 on the date of application.

    Insurance

    • ☐ No insurance rule is on record. Arrange cover yourself if you want it.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: Through the Philippine Retirement Authority. PRA asks for the original passport with a valid tourist visa, and the deposit must be remitted from a bank abroad to a PRA-accredited bank.
    • ☐ Government fee on record: $1,500 — PRA processing fee for the principal applicant, payable in USD or the peso equivalent. A USD 360 annual fee also applies (principal plus two dependents).

    Philippines marriage visa

    Unverified draft, 11 September 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Being a national of a country not on BI's 13(a) reciprocity list — Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Vietnamese nationals do not appear on the 2025 Citizen's Charter list
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Being a mainland Chinese national — that route runs separately under Memorandum Order No. MCL-07-021, not the ordinary 13(a)
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Maltese nationals whose marriage took place on or after 24 April 2001 and who have been married less than five years
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Being outside the Philippines at the time of filing the conversion or amendment
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Having less than twenty (20) days of valid authorized stay left when fees are assessed
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: A derogatory or criminal record surfacing on the NBI clearance required when filing six months or more after first arrival

    Insurance

    • ☐ No insurance rule is on record. Arrange cover yourself if you want it.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: Inside the Philippines at a BI office (the Citizen's Charter states the applicant must be inside the country when filing), or from abroad through a Philippine embassy or consulate, which charges its own immigrant visa fee..
    • ☐ Government fee on record: ₱8,620 — Principal applicant's visa fee for the probationary 13(a) conversion, plus US $50 for the ACR I-Card. BI's Permanent Resident Visa page lists the same Php 8,620.00 plus US $50 for the later amendment to permanent, so budget both stages. Applying through a Philippine consulate abroad instead carries a separate US $150.00 immigrant visa fee (Philippine Consulate General, Los Angeles)..
    • ☐ Processing time on record: BI's 2025 Citizen's Charter budgets 15 days, 1 hour and 40 minutes end to end for the probationary conversion, the bulk of which is transmittal to Agenda Records Management and Board of Commissioners approval at a maximum of 14 working days. Real elapsed time is longer once hearing scheduling, document authentication and ACR I-Card printing are counted..

    Philippines 9G work visa

    Unverified draft, 11 September 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: No Philippine employer willing to petition you — there is no self-sponsored or freelance version of this visa.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Positions where a competent, able and willing Filipino is available; DOLE can deny the AEP on exactly that ground after the publication period.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Roles in nationalized or partially nationalized industries without an Authority to Employ Alien from the DOJ, and regulated professions without a Special Temporary Permit from the PRC.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Conviction of a criminal offence, fugitive status, grave misconduct in dealing with workers, or falsified documents — these carry a ten-year bar on reapplying for an AEP.
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Contracts shorter than six months, which belong on a Special Work Permit instead; SWP runs three months, extendable once by three, and is non-extendible beyond six.

    Insurance

    • ☐ No insurance rule is on record. Arrange cover yourself if you want it.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: Inside the Philippines (Bureau of Immigration main office in Intramuros, Manila, or an authorized BI district office), usually as a conversion from a 9(a) temporary visitor stamp; the employer's AEP is filed first at the DOLE Regional Office with jurisdiction over the jobsite. A 9(G) can also be issued at a Philippine embassy or consulate abroad, but only after written authority is received from DFA Manila..
    • ☐ Government fee on record: ₱10,130 — BI published fee to convert to a 9(G) commercial visa: principal applicant, one-year validity, employer not in the Top 1,000 corporations (Php 17,170.00 for two years, Php 24,210.00 for three). The ACR I-Card is charged on top at US$50 for one year, US$100 for two, US$150 for three. BI's table is footnoted "Fees are updated as of 06 March 2014 and may change without prior notice," and the DOLE AEP fee is separate and paid first..
    • ☐ Processing time on record: Budget three to five months end to end. The DOLE Regional Office acts on a new or renewal AEP within fifteen (15) working days from payment of the fee, but that clock only starts after the vacancy has been published for 15 calendar days and the application accepted; the BI stage afterwards adds a pre-screening, a hearing, biometrics and visa implementation, each with its own queue..

    Cambodia

    Cambodia EB visa

    Unverified draft, 3 October 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Wanting to work legally without obtaining a separate work permit and foreign employment card
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Having no Cambodian sponsor at all — no employer, no registered company, no agent arrangement
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Applying for an EG (job-seeker) extension after already spending long periods in Cambodia on previous extensions
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Entering on a tourist (T-class) visa and expecting to convert — the long-stay extensions attach to the ordinary Class-E visa

    Insurance

    • ☐ No insurance rule is on record. Arrange cover yourself if you want it.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: Class-E visa from a Cambodian embassy/consulate abroad or e-Visa online (or visa on arrival at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports); the EB/EG extension is applied for inside Cambodia at the General Department of Immigration opposite Phnom Penh International Airport, usually through an agent.
    • ☐ Government fee on record: $35 — For the Class-E (ordinary/business) visa itself at a Cambodian embassy or as an e-Visa; the EB/EG extension of stay inside Cambodia is charged separately (see gotchas — official vs agent pricing is disputed).
    • ☐ Processing time on record: About 3 working days for short extensions; 5–10 days for a 12-month extension where the sponsor has to be verified.

If you will extend in country

    • ☐ Passport valid well beyond the new visa expiry, and with at least one blank page for the extension sticker (no source states a fixed validity rule; short validity typically results in a shorter grant)
    • ☐ 2-3 passport photos, 4x6 cm, white background
    • ☐ Employment letter from a Cambodian employer, signed and company-stamped (self-employed applicants use a letter under their own business stamp)
    • ☐ Copy of the employer's or your own patent tax certificate (patent tax licence)
    • ☐ Valid MLVT work permit / employment card for the current calendar year, required for a 12-month EB and for a 6-month EB where the holder works
    • ☐ FPCS registration filed by your landlord, hotel or property manager at your actual current address
    • ☐ Extension fee in clean US dollar cash
    • ☐ Your v-Pass entry record, emailed on arrival since July 2025 in place of a passport stamp

    Taiwan

    Taiwan Gold Card

    Unverified draft, 11 September 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Income: NT$160,000 — per month, gross (before tax), from a position held in a foreign state or in the R.O.C. Only some qualification fields offer this salary route. The Workforce Development Agency divides your annual tax form by 12 to check the average..
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Holders of certain visas cannot convert: APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC), blue-collar worker (FL), foreign officials and family (FO), Mandarin study (FR), international conference or trade exhibition (IM), medical (M), and working holiday (WH, excluding British nationals holding a YM visa)
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Applications are denied if requested supplementary documents are not supplied within the correction window
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: The five-year tax benefit is unavailable to anyone who has had household registration in Taiwan or was previously approved to reside there for work

    Insurance

    • ☐ No insurance rule is on record. Arrange cover yourself if you want it.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: Online, from inside Taiwan or from abroad, via the National Immigration Agency's Gold Card portal..
    • ☐ Government fee on record: NT$5,700 — three-year validity, foreign passport other than U.S.; NT$3,700 for one year and NT$4,700 for two years. U.S. passport holders applying from abroad pay substantially more, and Hong Kong/Macau residents pay a flat NT$3,100. Non-refundable regardless of outcome..
    • ☐ Processing time on record: Officially "over 60 business days" for the full process; a clean application is often quoted at about 30 days, longer if supplementary documents are requested..

If you will extend in country

    • ☐ Supporting documents for your qualification route — the platform auto-retrieves what you filed last time, and you cannot view or download those files
    • ☐ Full re-upload of qualification documents if you have switched field or category, or if the regulation you originally applied under has been amended since
    • ☐ Updated proof if you are now relying on a different criterion than last time (e.g. a current employer's certificate of employment with company name, position, actual employment dates and company stamp, seal or representative's signature)
    • ☐ Basic information re-entered by hand (the portal does not pre-fill it)
    • ☐ Translation into English or Chinese for anything in another language
    • ☐ Authentication by an ROC overseas mission for documents issued in the 25 listed countries — the official list reads Afghanistan, Algeria, Bengal (the published wording; read it as Bangladesh), Bhutan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Laos, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia; Strait Exchange Foundation attestation for documents issued in Mainland China
    • ☐ Colour passport copy with at least 6 months validity remaining, and a 2-inch colour photo taken within the last six months on a white background — these are listed in the first-application Required Documents block, not in the extension FAQ, so treat them as carried-over practice rather than published extension guidance

    Japan

    Japan Digital Nomad Visa

    Verified, 3 October 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Income: ¥10,000,000 — Personal annual income at the time of application. Sole traders are judged on profit after deducting necessary expenses, not on contract value; income from several stable contracts can be added together..
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Holding a nationality not on the ISA's Notice 53 list of 51 countries and regions (the country must be both visa-exempt for Japan and a tax-treaty partner)
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Personal annual income below 10,000,000 yen at the time of application
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Working under an employment or contracting arrangement with a Japanese public or private body, including a Japanese individual
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: A private medical policy whose injury and illness treatment cover is under 10,000,000 yen, or that omits death cover, or that does not span the whole planned stay
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Having already been in Japan on this designated activity for six months within the same one-year period
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Applying from outside Japan via a proxy for a Certificate of Eligibility — there is no one in Japan who can act as your representative, so this route does not exist for you

    Insurance

    • ☐ Health insurance is required, minimum ¥10,000,000.
    • ☐ Private medical or overseas travel insurance covering death, injury and illness, valid for the whole planned stay in Japan
    • ☐ Treatment-cost cover for injury and illness of at least 10,000,000 yen; the ISA's own form asks you to tick either a figure or "Unlimited"
    • ☐ Must also include repatriation of remains or a death benefit, with no minimum amount specified for that element
    • ☐ Cover is mandatory precisely because holders are not "mid-to-long-term residents" and therefore cannot join Japan's public health insurance
    • ☐ Accompanying spouse and children must each satisfy the insurance requirement too

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: see the visa page.
    • ☐ Government fee on record: ¥15,000 — Single-entry visa issuance fee for applications submitted on or after 1 July 2026 (multiple-entry 30,000 yen). Paid at the Japanese embassy or consulate. These fee figures come from law-firm notices (Fragomen, Newland Chase). We did not find them on an official page, so confirm the fee with your Japanese embassy..

If you will extend in country

    • ☐ No extension document set exists. For the initial application, the ISA list is: application form for Certificate of Eligibility (the "For organization, part 1-3" pages are NOT required)
    • ☐ One photograph meeting the specified standards
    • ☐ A reply envelope with the correct Japanese postage affixed for registered mail
    • ☐ Materials explaining the applicant's activity schedule during the stay — the ISA reference form 活動予定表 asks for period-by-period dates, the prefecture and city for each period, a Japan-reachable phone number, and a description naming the contract type, the company, the country and weekly hours. Both status pages add a carve-out: "If detailed information is provided in the application form, there is no need to submit it separately." / 「※ 申請書に詳細に記載している場合は、別途提出する必要はありません。」
    • ☐ Tax certificate or income certificate issued in the country where the applicant worked, proving personal annual income of at least ¥10,000,000
    • ☐ Documents proving current work status — employment contract, certificate of employment, or equivalent
    • ☐ Explanation of Coverage under Private Medical Insurance (ISA reference form; requires the insurer name, plan name, policy start and expiry dates, the medical coverage amount, and the death benefit or repatriation-of-remains amount)
    • ☐ A copy of the private medical insurance certificate of enrolment and the policy terms and conditions
    • ☐ For a spouse or child under Notice 54: proof of the family relationship (marriage certificate or equivalent), their own insurance documents, and a copy of the principal digital nomad's passport
    • ☐ Any foreign-language document needs a Japanese translation attached

    South Korea

    Korea digital nomad visa

    Unverified draft, 3 October 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Minimum age on record: 18.
    • ☐ Income: ₩104,820,000 — per year, for the top tier. We calculated it as 2x the 2025 per-capita GNI of about KRW 52.41 million, which the Ministry of Justice states; the Ministry does not state the product, and the Seattle consulate page still shows the old 2x figure. Since 30 June 2026 the requirement slides between 1x and 2x GNI by age and region: applicants aged 18-34 in a non-capital-region or population-decline area need only 1x, about KRW 52.41 million. The base GNI figure is re-announced by the Bank of Korea each spring, so the won threshold moves every year..
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Employment by a Korean company or any profit-generating activity inside Korea
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Under 18 (dependants may be younger)
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Less than one year of employment with the overseas company, or in the same industry
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Income below the threshold for your age and intended region of residence
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Insurance policy without home-country repatriation cover
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Criminal record disclosed on the required police certificate

    Insurance

    • ☐ Health insurance is required, minimum ₩100,000,000.
    • ☐ Policy must cover hospital treatment in Korea AND evacuation/repatriation to the home country (본국후송) - a policy that says only 'medical evacuation' is a documented rejection trigger
    • ☐ Certificate of insurance subscription is a listed required document at the visa-application stage, not something you can add after arrival
    • ☐ Each family member on a dependent application has to be named on the policy with the full coverage amount in their own right

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: A Korean embassy or consulate abroad, or as a change of status inside Korea from B-1, B-2 or C-3 short-term status via HiKorea.
    • ☐ Government fee on record: $45 — single-entry consular fee for U.S. citizens at Korean missions in the U.S.; fees differ by nationality under reciprocity, and a change of status filed inside Korea on HiKorea is billed separately in won.
    • ☐ Processing time on record: Not officially published; secondary sources cite 2 to 4 weeks at a consulate, and 3 to 10 business days for a change of status filed on HiKorea.

    Singapore

    Singapore ONE Pass

    Unverified draft, 11 September 2026.

    Eligibility and money

    • ☐ Income: S$30,000 — Fixed monthly salary of at least S$30,000 (or foreign-currency equivalent) from a single employer for the 12 consecutive months immediately before the application, or a prospective role at that salary with an established Singapore-based company. Applicants with outstanding achievements in sports, arts and culture, or academia and research may apply without meeting the salary criterion. For comparison, the Employment Pass floor is S$5,600 per month (S$6,200 financial services) for 2026..
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: Salary spread across two or more employers - the qualifying S$30,000 must come from one employer alone across the 12 consecutive months
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: A S$30,000 package that is mostly bonus, commission, housing or allowances; only fixed monthly salary counts
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: A prospective Singapore employer that does not meet MOM's establishment test (market capitalisation of at least US$500 million or annual revenue of at least US$200 million)
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: A salary history gap - the 12 months must be consecutive and immediately precede the application date
    • ☐ Confirm this does not apply to you: For the Employment Pass instead: scoring under 40 COMPASS points, unless exempt via the S$22,500 fixed monthly salary carve-out, intra-corporate transfer, or a role of 1 month or less

    Insurance

    • ☐ No insurance rule is on record. Arrange cover yourself if you want it.

    Where, how much, how long

    • ☐ Where to apply: Outside Singapore or from within Singapore; the ONE Pass is self-sponsored and applied for online via MOM's myMOM Portal (an employer is not required to file it). The Employment Pass, by contrast, must be filed by a Singapore-registered employer or an appointed employment agent..
    • ☐ Government fee on record: S$105 — S$105 application fee for each pass, plus S$225 issuance fee for each pass when the pass is granted. The Employment Pass carries the identical S$105 / S$225 fee pair..
    • ☐ Processing time on record: Within 4 weeks for most cases. The Employment Pass is faster for a Singapore-registered employer (processed or given an update within 10 business days) but takes up to 6 weeks where the filing company has no Singapore registration..
