Asia Visa Guide tracks long-stay and remote-work visas across Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. It exists because the existing guidance in this area shares one flaw: it is undated. A page describing the Thai retirement visa’s insurance rule is useless unless you know whether it was written before or after the rule changed in 2021, and almost none of them tell you.

This is not a wiki

The address ends in .wiki because this is a reference work, but nothing here is community-edited. Every page is written and sourced by one named person, and every figure carries the date it was last checked and a link to where it came from. Nobody else can change a number on this site. That is the opposite of how a wiki works, and for immigration figures it is the safer model — there is exactly one person accountable for each claim.

Who writes it

Mack Grissom. Writes from Bangkok, where he has lived and dealt with Thai immigration first-hand. That matters mainly for what it rules out: this is not written from a desk in another hemisphere by someone who has never queued at an immigration office.

How a figure gets published

Every requirement is stored as structured data with a source link and a verification date, not as prose. Pages are rendered from that data, so a single correction updates the visa page, every comparison that visa appears in, the change timeline, the eligibility tool and the machine-readable summary at /llms.txt at once. There is no second copy to forget.

Records carry a confidence flag. 3 of 21 are marked verified against a source we are willing to cite; the rest render with a visible warning saying they are not. The build fails if a record goes more than 60 days without re-checking, which is the only reliable defence against a site like this quietly rotting.

Where sources disagree

Sometimes reputable sources contradict each other — currently, whether Thai language school enrolment still qualifies under the DTV’s Soft Power category. In those cases the page says the sources disagree and shows both, rather than picking the more convenient one. Confident-sounding resolution of a genuine ambiguity is how readers end up paying for a course that does not qualify them.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, it is worth more to us to know than to look right. Every visa page lists its sources, so a correction that comes with a better source will be applied and dated.
