Vietnam launched a digital nomad visa.
As of September 2026 it has not. Sites advertising a 'Vietnam digital nomad visa' are describing the ordinary 90-day e-visa under a name the government has never used, and some sell paid assistance for a USD 25 online form. Re-checked 11 September 2026 against a source last updated 18 February 2026.
Vietnam's ten-year Golden Visa is now available, so long stays are solved.
The Golden Visa was proposed in April 2025 and is still at proposal stage, with no published mechanism for how remote workers would qualify. What did come out of those discussions is a separate five-year Talent Visa, which has officially launched. That distinction matters because the two are routinely conflated: one exists and is narrow, the other is widely written about and does not yet exist.
