Vietnam digital nomad visa: what exists in 2026

Many sites advertise a Vietnam digital nomad visa. We found no official page that announces one. This page sets out the two routes we track, the e-visa and the temporary residence card, and says plainly which claims rest on an official source and which on a third-party guide.

Amounts are in the visa’s own currency, as stated by the source on each visa page. “Not stated” means the record holds no figure, not that the rule is absent: read the visa page for the conditions.

The short stay route

The e-visa is what most people who say they have a Vietnam nomad visa actually hold. It is a short, tourist-type visa.

Vietnam E-visa (up to 90 days, single or multiple entry)

The Vietnam e-visa is valid for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, and costs USD 25 for single entry and USD 50 for multiple entry. The portal says applications are processed in 3 working days. We found no official page announcing a digital nomad visa.

In its favour: A low fee and about three working days, with no financial disclosure on the pages we read.

Watch for: The official validity is a maximum of 90 days, so long stays mean repeated applications or border runs.

The longer stay route

The temporary residence card is granted after you are already in Vietnam, and a sponsoring company, investor or family member files it. Our record finds no remote-work or digital nomad card category. It is an unverified draft, so check each figure on the visa page against the source.

Temporary Residence Card (Thẻ tạm trú)

Vietnam's Temporary Residence Card is not a visa you apply for from abroad — it is an upgrade granted after you are already in Vietnam on a qualifying visa, and only a sponsoring company, investment or family member can file it for you. Validity is capped by the card's symbol: ĐT1 investor cards run up to 10 years, NG3/LV1/LV2/LS/ĐT2/DH up to 5 years, NN1/NN2/ĐT3/TT up to 3 years, and the LĐ1/LĐ2 employment cards most foreign workers actually hold up to 2 years, always at least 30 days shorter than your passport. The state fee is USD 145 per card up to 2 years, USD 155 for over 2 to 5 years and USD 165 for over 5 to 10 years, with a 5-working-day statutory decision window.

In its favour: Acts as a multiple-entry residence permit — you leave and re-enter Vietnam freely for the life of the card with no visa run, no extension stamps and no per-entry day count

Watch for: You cannot apply for yourself. Article 37 requires an inviting or sponsoring agency, organisation or individual to submit the file, so the card is legally tethered to your employer, your company or a Vietnamese family member

Quick answers

Does Vietnam have a digital nomad visa?
We found no official page announcing one. The statement that none exists comes from a third-party guide, so confirm with Vietnamese immigration if the detail matters to you. Sites that sell a Vietnam digital nomad visa describe the ordinary e-visa under a name the government does not use.
How long is the Vietnam e-visa valid?
Our record, read from the Vietnam Immigration Department page, says up to 90 days. The multiple-entry fee on record is $50.
Can I work remotely on the Vietnam e-visa?
The e-visa is a tourist-type visa. Remote work on it sits in a grey zone that Vietnam has not clarified on the pages we read.
Is the Vietnam Golden Visa available?
A third-party guide reports it was proposed in April 2025 and still a proposal at its last update. We could not confirm it on an official page.
