E33G Remote Worker KITAS
Indonesia's E33G is a one-year renewable remote work permit requiring USD 60,000 in annual foreign income. Its distinguishing feature is fiscal: foreign income is exempt from Indonesian tax for four years from first residency.

What most guides get wrong about the Bali digital nomad visa

You can pick up freelance work from Indonesian clients while on the E33G.
The permit explicitly prohibits selling goods or services in Indonesia and receiving any payment from Indonesian entities. It authorises remote work performed for an overseas company only, and a single Indonesian invoice puts the permit at risk.
The E33G can be converted from a tourist visa once you are in Bali.
Application must be made from your home country or another country outside Indonesia, before entry. Arriving first and converting is not available on this route.
Where it wins
- Four years of exemption on foreign income, the strongest tax position of any long-stay visa in the region.
- Counts toward permanent residency and eventually citizenship, which the Thai and Malaysian nomad visas do not.
- Legally unambiguous, where most of the region leaves remote work in a grey zone.
Where it doesn’t
- USD 60,000 is the highest income bar among the region's remote-work visas.
- Must be applied for from outside Indonesia, so it cannot be converted from a tourist stay.
- Processing runs 4–8 weeks, which is slow if you have already committed to a move date.
Who cannot use this visa
- You are already inside Indonesia — the E33G must be applied for from abroad.
- You sell goods or services to Indonesian customers, or take payment from Indonesian entities.
- Your employer is registered in Indonesia.
