Special Resident Retiree's Visa

The Philippines restructured the SRRV in September 2025, dropping the minimum age from 50 to 40 and reducing the programme to two categories. Deposits run from USD 15,000 to USD 50,000 depending on age and pension status, and the visa permits indefinite residence.

What most guides get wrong about the SRRV

Each of these is a rule that changed, or a detail that is widely repeated incorrectly. Checked 10 September 2026.

Commonly wrongChanged 1 September 2025

You must be 50 to qualify for the SRRV.

The September 2025 restructure lowered the minimum age to 40. Applicants aged 40–49 without a pension face the highest deposit tier at USD 50,000, but they are eligible, which older guidance says they are not.

Where it wins

  • Indefinite residence with unrestricted entry and exit, and no re-entry permits or repeated extension fees.
  • Open from age 40, a decade earlier than Thailand's retirement route.
  • No health insurance requirement, in contrast to Thailand's O-A.

Where it doesn’t

  • Capital is locked in a Philippine time deposit for as long as you hold the visa.
  • An annual PRA fee applies indefinitely on top of the USD 1,500 to apply.
  • The 2025 restructure removed categories some applicants were planning around.

Who cannot use this visa

  • You are under 40 on the date of application.

What we previously got wrong on this page

Figures here are never silently edited. Anything we published and later corrected is shown below with its date.

  • depositRequirement.qualifier

Two deposit tiers: USD 15,000 for 50+ with a pension, rising to USD 50,000 for applicants aged 40-49 without one.

Four tiers: 50+ with pension USD 15,000; 50+ without USD 30,000; aged 40-49 with pension USD 25,000; aged 40-49 without USD 50,000.

The original figures came from a search-result summary rather than the source page, and collapsed four tiers into the two extremes. The eligibility tool consequently told a 50-plus applicant without a pension they needed USD 50,000 against an actual USD 30,000 β€” a USD 20,000 error on the precise question the tool exists to answer. Caught by fetching the live page during source verification.

  • governmentFee.qualifier

USD 1,500 application fee, plus USD 360 annually.

USD 1,500 one-time application fee for the principal applicant. The annual PRA fee is described by the source only as a few hundred dollars per year, so no figure is published.

The USD 360 annual figure could not be found on any page we fetched. Removed rather than kept on plausibility.
