Which Asian countries have a digital nomad visa?

By Asia Visa Guide editors · Last verified · draft record, see note

Of the 10 countries we cover, 5 have a remote-work route we document: Thailand (Thailand DTV), Malaysia (Malaysia DE Rantau digital nomad visa), Indonesia (Bali digital nomad visa (E33G)), Japan (Japan digital nomad visa), South Korea (Korea workation (F-1-D) visa).

Thailand DTV: stay 180 days; savings test ฿500,000; no insurance rule.

Malaysia DE Rantau digital nomad visa: stay 12 months; income test $24,000 a year; insurance required.

Bali digital nomad visa (E33G): stay 1 year; income test $60,000 a year; no insurance rule.

Japan digital nomad visa: stay 6 months; income test ¥10,000,000 a year; insurance required.

Korea workation (F-1-D) visa: stay 1 year on the consular pages, which may predate the 30 June 2026 change; income test ₩104,820,000 a year; insurance required.

Vietnam has no dedicated digital nomad visa in our records; see the Vietnam guide for what exists instead.

Thresholds are per month for some governments and per year for others. Compare them with the period shown, not the bare number.

Some of the routes listed are draft records that have not been fully confirmed against an official page, so check the embassy or authority page before you pay for anything.
