The Thailand DTV asks for savings of ฿500,000.

Savings: ฿500,000. the form of proof and the statement period are post-specific. Ho Chi Minh City accepts bank statements or a sponsorship letter; Oslo asks for statements showing an ending balance of at least 500,000 THB over the past three months. Check the embassy handling the application.

A common reason people are ruled out: You cannot show proof of permanent residence in the country where you file. Since 31 August 2026 the DTV list asks for it in place of a current-location document.

What changed

31 August 2026: Residence evidence is also specific to the handling post. Osaka requires permanent residence in the country or territory where the application is submitted. London requires permanent residence in the UK, Ireland or a British Overseas Territory, and its police certificate must be issued within six months of submission. Oslo lists permanent residence in Norway or Iceland. Confirm the exact residence evidence before applying.
