What are the money requirements for the Thai retirement visa (Non-O-A)?

Applicants must be aged 50 or over and show either a monthly income of at least ฿65,000 or a current bank balance of ฿800,000, according to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs checklist and the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha.

The two financial tests are alternatives: income of ฿65,000 a month, or a balance of ฿800,000. You do not need both.

The age test applies on the day you submit the application.

What changed

1 October 2021: That figure is obsolete for the O-A and has been since 2021. The current requirement is at least USD 100,000 / 3,000,000 THB of cover including all medical benefits. The old numbers still circulate widely in guides and in AI-generated answers, and a policy bought to meet them will be rejected at the counter.
